Cook Southland Funeral Chapel - Johnson(2018)

Marie Johnson peacefully went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the age of 84 years. Marie was born on December 24, 1933, in Consort, Alberta and resided in the Good Samaritan Lodge in Medicine Hat for the past five years. Prior to Medicine Hat, Marie lived in Brooks for ten years with her daughter, Mechele; son-in-law, Barry and grandchildren, Travis, Christopher and Jennifer. She had numerous grandchildren whom she delighted in and talked about them all the time. Marie also had two great- grandsons, Andrew and Scout and was the loving mother of four children, John (deceased), Rohne, Mechele and Shayne. Marie’s memory will live on in the hearts of her brother, Dwayne and two sisters, Alma and Bonnie. She was predeceased by her parents, Melvin and Nellie Johnson; three brothers, Frank, Melvin and Walter as well as four sisters, Yvonne, Grace, Myrtle and Pansy. Marie was an amazing cook and her greatest joy came from time spent in the kitchen. She loved having little ones by her side with their own apron and teaching them her ways. Marie loved to knit and was so very attentive and thoughtful. She always noticed the favourite things of those around her and provided such whenever she had a chance. Marie loved music and attended Cowboy Church regularly. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends. The family wish to thank the friends and staff of the Good Samaritan Lodge and the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on 5 East for the care they provided to Marie. Also, a special mention to Sarah and Helen at Riverview Lodge for their kindness. A Celebration of Marie’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, July 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Borrows officiating. Interment will follow at the Redcliff Cemetery with a time of fellowship thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility.
